Carlo1When Carlo Racioppo graduated from university with a degree in commerce and economics, he had two choices.  One was to accept an entry-level position at an accounting firm for a $20K salary.  The other was to continue practicing real estate, a part-time pursuit he'd begun two years earlier and had earned $40,000 in the previous year.  Almost immediately, Carlo said "thanks, but no thanks" to a career in accounting and set off to begin his real estate career in earnest by opening his own brokerage.

However, once he opened the doors to his office and with mortgage rates as high as they were, real estate in the early '90s wasn't as simple as it had been in the late '80s.  Carlo had to look deep within himself to succeed.  It was at this point in his life that he began seeking outside inspiration to keep him motivated and help him be the best he could possibly be.  He read books, listened to CDs, attended seminars and basically became a sponge for valuable, life-changing and business-altering information.

"I've always enjoyed exposing myself to new ideas, learning new things and helping myself and others grow," Carlo says.

An Industry Icon

The more Carlo learned, the more confidence he built in himself and his career, and the more success he encountered.  He established himself as one of the GTA's premier real estate resources and soon was invited to serve on the Mississauga Real Estate Board, a position he held for seven years.  He even served as the Board's youngest-ever President at the age of 30.  He later served on the Toronto Real estate Board as well as the Ontario Real Estate Association.

Throughout his multi-faceted career, Carlo sold both residential and commercial properties, served in management and ownership, and gave his time to industry associations whenever possible.  Once he and his wife had their daughter, Carlo's life changed once again.  It was then that he decided he needed more balance in his life and chose to make his career serve his life.

A New "Addition"

To that end, Carlo purchased Royal LePage Realty Plus in 2004.  At that time, it was a 30-agent operation.  But by hand-selecting business-minded agents to join the team, Carlo has more than doubled the size of the brokerage.  Even more importantly, he's developed a company that reflects his own personal values and beliefs.

"Real estate is a tremendous career opportunity if you really treat it like a business and have the support and guidance to succeed," Carlo says.  "Today, I'm happier than ever focusing all of my efforts on guiding my agents to greater productivity and career satisfaction by striving for innovation and constantly providing training."  Carlo strives to continually provide valuable guidance to his agents' careers.  His greatest joy is instilling others with the necessary components to build a successful real estate business.
